The happiness of home lovers, whether living in a large house, a small house, a building, or on land, is being close to nature. Desert plants commonly known as cactus are perfectly suited to condo lifestyles because they require minimal care. They are easy to grow, do not need frequent watering, require no pruning, and have unique forms like living works of art. They are resistant to pests and diseases, appropriately sized, slow-growing, and do not produce allergens from flowers or fruits.

When you mention cactus in a plant shop, it refers to ancient plant species that have evolved since prehistoric times. They come in a wide variety of sizes, shapes, and colors worldwide, including succulents like echeveria, aloe, peony cactus, and even dragon fruit plants, which are also a type of cactus.

Popular cactus varieties include:
Astrophytum – Characterized by star-like shapes with white dots scattered across the surface. They are easy to grow, fast-growing, spineless, and produce flowers easily. Beautiful patterned varieties can be quite valuable.
Echinopsis – A clustered cactus with soft spines, making it safe to handle. Its white flowers bloom beautifully at night from midnight until morning.
Coryphantha – A single large cactus with spines, grown from seeds and expanding gradually, sometimes producing many offsets.
Discocactus – A single-head cactus with soft, fluffy spines. It produces fragrant flowers that bloom at night until dawn.
Gymnocalycium – Known for its bright colors and affordability. It requires careful watering and takes time to bloom, but the flowers are rewarding.

Basic cactus care requires watering 2–3 times per week, fertilizing once a month, and providing 4–5 hours of light daily, either natural or artificial. Ensure proper drainage and avoid overwatering. With minimal care, cacti can thrive for months and adapt naturally in shape and size.

Cactus is also considered an auspicious plant in Thai belief. It is said that those who successfully grow cacti with beautiful flowers will receive good fortune. Traditionally, cacti are planted on the west side of the house and preferably on Saturdays, as believed to bring good luck.
If you are planning to decorate your condo garden, consider adding stylish cactus plants. Not only will you enjoy unique natural beauty, but it may also bring good fortune and positive energy into your life.
